High-Value Nutrition’s call for proposals attract 33 bids from across New Zealand

13 October 2015

In June 2015 the High-Value Nutrition National Science Challenge invited research organisations to apply to its 2015 call for research projects.

With $7m up for investment the level of interest has been significant. The High-Value Nutrition team had the opportunity during a roadshow in July to meet with numerous businesses and researchers across New Zealand and discuss potential applications.

In the end 33 proposal were submitted, 17 were responding to the science-led subcall, 16 in response to the business-led subcall, including 8 proposals applying to the Vision Mātauranga pool.

Of those, 8 proposals were deemed ineligible, and the independent assessment panel assigned the remaining 25 proposals for review across nearly 70 national and international peers. The assessment panel will be meeting again in November for their final assessment and recommendations to the High-Value Nutrition Board before the investment decisions are announced early December.
